Day 11: Waterberg Plateau National Park, NamibiaThe tour leaves Etosha bound for the stunning Waterberg Plateau National Park. Historically significant because it was the site of the war between the Germans and the Hereros, the area has now become a haven for many endangered species. It is renowned for its incredible rock formations and walks.
Your time in the Waterberg is your own and you are free to walk in the park at your leisure. Excellent sign posted hiking trails make for easy self-guided walks. Optional game drives and self-guided walks are available. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Camping (Bernard De La Bat or similar) Waterberg Plateau National Park. Day 12: Gobabis, Namibia“Desert and Sea” and “Wild Waters Explorer” are modules of the “Northern Quest” tour, and all clients booked on these modules will be collected / dropped off in Windhoek before proceeding to Gobabis.
The tour travels toward the border between Namibia and Botswana and to Gobabis where the guests will stay overnight on a private game farm. It's the last night in Namibia and a fitting place to hear fireside tales of your journey thus far. Breakfast and lunch. Camping (Zelda’s Guest Farm or similar); en route between Gobabis and Botswana Border post. Day 13: Maun , BotswanaYou wake up early for your departure to the border for Botswana. Once all the formalities have been completed the tour will head for Maun, which is the gateway to the fantastic Okavango Delta. You prepare for the following days to come and be briefed by your guides on what to take into the Delta.
Please remember space in the mekoros (local word for canoe, and your mode of transport in the delta) is at a premium and a small overnight bag with your sleeping bag and necessary clothes for 3 days is all that is needed.
All camping and catering equipment and all foods will be provided. The campsite is just outside the centre of Maun. Although a small town, Maun has several shops, good communications and banks. Breakfast, lunch. Camping (Audi Camp or similar) 12 kilometres (7 miles) north of Maun, on the banks of the Thamalakane River. |
